The second most populous colony of Norwegians abroad is settled in Alfás
del Pi, a place that owes its name to the Arabic inhabitants of the 8th
century who gave the name of al-fas "fertile land" and to the native
Valencianos that ended it with Pi "pine" in memory of the tree in the
main square, symbol of the independence of Polop.
