The second most populous colony of Norwegians abroad is settled in Alfás del Pi, a place that owes its name to the Arabic inhabitants of the 8th century who gave the name of al-fas "fertile land" and to the native Valencianos that ended it with Pi "pine" in memory of the tree in the main square, symbol of the independence of Polop.
The most populated area is located on the foothills of the Sierra Helada, but for leisure and free time people fill the 4km of coastline, especially the area of Albir, whose 500-metre long pebbled beach offers all kinds of services and restaurants where you can taste their famous rice, meat and corn balls, while enjoying the great views of the Bay, the town of Altea and the Rock of Ifach.
The Sierra Helada and the beach of Albir have a history of great civilizations that passed through it: Iberians, Romans, Arabs ... leaving important archeological remains and place names in the region of Alicante. One of the major Roman sites can be enjoyed at the foot of the lighthouse, a walking excursion recommended in summer to enjoy the countryside and its sheer cliffs, the sun and the coves of crystalline water that the Mediterranean has to offer.
Albir is culture and entertainment, the promenade on the beach has the Walk of Fame autographed by all the actors honored in its film festival in July. Classical music in turn, is the protagonist of the Roman Baths of the Museum of the Roman town of L'Albir in the days of August, and avant-garde art is present at the Museum Foundation Frax at the foot of the beach.

Available to those who want to stay fit, offering athletics tracks, gyms, tennis courts and several football fields, which will keep all sporting enthusiasts occupied.
